while trying to bail his friend out of jail

Whenever you are going to the police station, it is always a good idea to check your pockets and socks in order to make sure that you do not have any illegal drugs that will lead to an overnight stay in the county jail.

Or worse yet, an extended stay in the state’s prison system.

According to The Detroit News, a poor fella named Royal Norton didn’t check his pockets before he went down to the Rochester Hills Police Department to bail out his friend who had been arrested for drinking and driving.

The Detroit News reported that Norton pulled out $300 bail money plus a bag of cocaine.

In an attempt to draw the police’s attention away from the powdery substance, Norton, according to The Detroit News, told the police that the cocaine was “just garbage.” Well, Norton was right in one sense. Cocaine is “just garbage.”

It’s just that cocaine is the type of “garbage” that will lead to the user having multiple physical and psychological problems, and the seller of the drug getting an extended stay in one of our nation’s finest prison system.

As for Norton, the police took the bail money and the cocaine. After determining that the cocaine was cocaine, the police, according to The Detroit News, charged Norton with being in “possession of a controlled substance.”
